Who we are
Pupi Solari, born 1927, Ligurian by birth, Milanese by adoption.
The family announced with great sadness her passing on April 24, 2024, at the age of 97.
With more than 50 years of activity behind her, she enjoyed a career that remained active until she was 94, supported by her team, almost entirely female.
Since 2018 she has been joined by her son Andrea in the company's administrative management and her granddaughter Margherita in the creative direction of the collections and management of social media and the website.
“In 1969 she opened a children's shop in Largo V° Alpini in Milan. Nine years later, in 1978, she moved to Piazza Tommaseo and the women's department joined the children's section with 6 shop windows. In 1991 the men's department called HOST (from the name of the children Host-Ivessich) also joined the windows, bringing the total to 11. Over the years she also opened a children's boutique in Genoa.”
“The shop windows are held up as examples for their rigorous creativity and elegance, never predictable. It's a multi-brand store, but her personality in the selections and their consistency make it feel like a single-brand shop. She was among the first to anticipate the trend of “receiving”, with a small tea room inside the store.”
Pupi Solari is known for her ability to spot details and transform everything around her until she reaches the goal; the color choices she uses seem almost magical to the observer.
In 2018 she finally decided to sell the Women's and Men's departments in Milan and the children's shop in Genoa to devote herself entirely to the Pupi Solari Bambino boutique in Milan.
